We have two types of gatherings each month.
1. Our Sunday breakfasts (10am on the last Sunday of the month)
Currently held at the Moon Under Water (Wetherspoons) in Cheltenham, we meet at 10am on the last Sunday each month. So far numbers have varied from three to 25, but what’s guaranteed is lively, good-humoured conversation, a friendly atmosphere and a cheap and calorific breakfast!
Everyone is welcome and there’s no need to let us know in advance. That said, if you’re coming along for the first time and would like someone to look out for you then please do drop us an email and we’ll do just that.
We’re finding that a number of people who are interested in the group and want to dip their toe in the water before coming to a more formal meeting are coming first trying out a breakfast. That’s absolutely fine – we’d be delighted to see you.
2. An evening meeting with a speaker or an in-house discussion evening (7.15pm for 7.30pm on the second Thursday of the month)
We have a slightly more formal meeting each month when we either have an outside speaker talking about a topic of interest to humanism / humanists, or a discussion evening often led by a committee member. There’s never any obligation to participate in the discussion or ask questions of our speaker, but you’re extremely welcome to do so if you’d like to!
Refreshments are available from the bar and we tend to gather from around 7.00pm with the meeting proper starting at 7.30pm. However, do always check the current programme before setting out as we occasionally hold our meetings elsewhere or at a different time. We generally do not have evening meetings in August or December.
Everyone with an interest in atheism, humanism or secularism – or simply the specific topic we are discussing – is welcome to visit our meetings. There is no need to be a member nor to let us know you are coming but if you would like to make contact beforehand please do so and we’ll be looking out for you.
We ask for a small donation at our evening meeting to cover costs: £2 for members and £3 for guests/visitors.
We are always keen to receive suggestions for future meetings. Please contact us with any ideas you may have.
